Welcome to our new and improved website! Nicole Briggs and Charles Watkins (webmaster)
have worked on this project for the past eight months. Nicole, one of our latest and youngest members, brings to HLDW technology and marketing expertise, while Charles brings years of experience of tirelessly maintaining our website. And, if I may mention, Nicole has a high-level position that requires travel and, at the same time, is the mother to a young son along with two stepchildren. As if that weren’t enough, her second baby is due in September. Volunteering requires time and commitment. Many will decline because they are too busy. Well…maybe we can all take a cue from Nicole and do more. Our country, state, counties, and Democratic organizations need everyone to be the change we want to see! Some may wonder who is behind the camera at our HLDW meetings and events. Teri Flanagan doesn’t get the credit she deserves as our Publicity Chair. You never see her in our photos or stories about HLDW in the newspapers, newsletters, website, or Facebook. Yet, Teri makes sure our core group of hard-working volunteers and members are acknowledged through pictures and articles. Teri and her beloved husband, Dave, moved to Horseshoe Bay from Ft. Worth five years ago. Like the rest of us, Teri and Dave had no idea they had chosen to live in a deep sea of red, so she quickly sought like-minds and joined HLDW. We’re thrilled Teri did! She enjoys participating in book clubs, creating beautiful artwork (watercolor), gardening, and volunteering. When I’ve asked Teri to assist in various projects, she always agrees, except for the rare times she’s overwhelmed with other activities, like helping her husband with building three Little Free Libraries, creating ads against book banning, participating in the HSB Covid testing site in 2020, and volunteering at many local community events. Thanks to each of you for launching this website and making HLDW an even greater organization due to your contributions! - Dana Rushing, HLDW President
