The October speaker at the Highland Lakes Democratic Women’s meeting will be Jim Chapman, former Democratic Congressman. Jim received a BBA from UT Texas and a law degree from SMU Law School. After completing his law degree, he worked in private practice until he became District Attorney for the 8th Judicial District of Texas in 1976. Jim was first elected to Congress in 1985 and was re-elected to the next five succeeding terms. He is best known for his work on the restoration and development of an East Texas Lake called Cooper Lake. In honor of his work, Congress formally renamed the lake “Jim Chapman Lake”. Jim now resides in Horseshoe Bay. The meeting is at Meadowlakes Hidden Falls Bistro on Thursday, October 24 and begins at 11:30am with registration at 11:15.
